Hey All!
The Christmas season officially kicked off Thanksgiving Night with The movie...."a Christmas Story". Just one of the hundreds of times this movie will be shown in 30 days.
I try to watch it once a year....but it has to be when my husband's working.....he's sick of it! Just for laughs I thought about getting a Red Rider BB gun for Christmas, but I usually wind up getting him something dealing with Hendrix....cd, poster to frame, etc....or something to do with "Krusty the Clown".
Do you have any favorite holiday movies? I lean toward "The Bishop's Wife"...(Cary Grant Version), "Holiday Inn", "Bells of St. Mary's".
But then again...it's just not the holidays without seeing "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation", "Trading Spaces" and of course all the "Die Hard" movies. Yip-ee-oh--kye-aye!!
And then there are the really strange Christmas movies....my favorite has to be the cheezy sci-fi flick... "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"! If you can get your hands on "Mystery Science Theatre's" version where they bust on the entire movie...you're in for a good laugh!
What gets you in the holiday mood? What movie is a "must see" every year?
I'll make some popcorn...you bring on the titles!
Later!
Rose

I just caught one of the showings of A Christmas Story on TNT this past Wednesday night. I never get tired of this movie, it's always fresh for me. Favorite scenes have to be Ralphie beating the crap out of Farkas the bully, Santa Claus giving Ralphie the boot in the face down the slide, the entire leg lamp episode (and you can actually purchase a leg lamp online, somebody manufactures them just like in the movie), the Bumphus dog getting its ear caught in the door, and the dogs getting their revenge with the family's Christmas turkey. And the Chinese restaurant scene at the end...Fa ra ra ra ra!!!
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Bill Murray's Scrooged are also must-see's for me this time of year. And although it is not a movie, any of the South Park Christmas specials are classic - very twisted, but classic!
On a more serious note, I always was a fan of the George C. Scott edition of Dickens' A Christmas Carol; he was one of the all-time great Scrooge's.

Hey all,
My favorite Christmas movies are the classics. Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, The Little Drummer Boy, The Year Without a Santa Claus (most favorite) and Santa Claus is coming to town. A Christmas Carol is an all-time favorite.
