It was a grand and glorious day at Burgi's Roundhouse Bar and Grill this past Saturday, as Q94 presented the 9th annual Harley Davidson Giveaway!
It was hot on the golf course, but spirits were high as a huge crowd of Harley hopefuls awaited the deciding moment, when one of them would become the proud new owner of a 2006 Harley Davidson Street Bob motorcycle!
The band Half Tempted warmed up the already hot crowd with ample doses of live classic rock. Shortly before the official drawing began, five final qualifier names - from hopefuls who had not yet qualified for the bike during the previous two months - were selected. The field of 947 was complete.
After the clock struck noon, the moment of decision had arrived. From 947 qualifying entries in the barrel, fifty semi-finalist names were drawn. From those fifty names, ten finalists were drawn. Those names were returned to the barrel, and one by one, drawn and whittled down to two remaining names: April Roudabush and Gail Martynuska. One more name was drawn and read: April's. Which meant...
Gail Martynuska of Altoona won the Harley! When asked what she would do with her new prize, Gail emphatically declared, "Ride it! Ride It! RIDE IT!!!"
The winning wasn't finished. Don Dittsworth of Altoona, always in the hunt for the big Harley year after year, finally did win a Harley - the mini Harley! And Shawn Hart was awarded the trophy for the Hottest Hawg Contest, with proceeds going to the Miracle League of Blair County.
Congratulations to Gail, Don, and all the finalists. Thanks to everybody who came out to Burgi's, and to everybody who tried to qualify for the Harley over the past two months. Thanks also to Burgi's Roundhouse, Miller Lite and City Beverage, the Altoona Curve, City Beverage, KFC Plank Road, G&R Excavating and Demolition, Half Tempted, and all the businesses who hosted live Harley broadcasts over the past two months.
Next year will be the tenth year of our Harley giveaway - so you know we are going to have something wild planned!
