Today's vacation itinerary had us going to one of the Disney theme parks, Epcot. It's been my third time at Epcot; this has become my favorite of the Disney theme parks.
Since it was on the chilly side (high temperature today reached the low 60's) and the spring breakers are still a few weeks away from invading the place, it wasn't crowded at all at Epcot. In fact, turnout was low enough that they didn't even run the trams back and forth from the parking lot to the park.
We checked out the World Showcase, which is a sort of "global village," where you walk through different areas representing different countries, including shops, eateries, and even attractions, films and entertainment about each country and its culture. We spent time in each country, including Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada.
In the other half of Epcot, Future World, we rode on the new ride, "Soarin," which simulates a hang glider ride over a number of California natural wonders and attractions. I often don't fare well with rides like this, where simulated heights and g-forces tend to make me a bit nauseous. But this one was cool, I had no problem, and enjoyed it. It's worth checking out if you get to Epcot.
After the park closed and we blew a wad on souvenirs (actually, I put it all on plastic), we headed to Downtown Disney and ate dinner at the House Of Blues. No band there this night, but the food kicked butt! We also went to Virgin Records' store - if you want to see a huge CD/multi-media store, this place is it! Two levels of CD's, DVD's, books, magazines, and other music-related accessories and gear. After all these years, I finally bought a copy of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album; I had never once owned this album! But for the sale price of $10, I couldn't resist!
On tap for tomorrow: During the day, we'll be checking out the sights and sounds of Ybor City. Then tomorrow night, we're catching the Tampa Bay-Carolina hockey game, and then catching a former Altoona radio guy-turned singer, as his band performs at a Tampa area nightclub. More details tomorrow...
