Goodbye, Florida.
Yes, today we left for our journey back to snowy PA. Estimated time of arrival back in Altoona will be late Saturday night, after the forecasted Saturday snowfall. Welcome home!
Before we left Florida, we picked several bags' worth of oranges and grapefruits from trees at the place we were staying. I'll be in stock for Vitamin C at least well into the spring!
We stopped at Parksdale Fruit Market in Plant City, Florida. This place is strawberry capitol of Florida, if not the whole country! The strawberry sundaes here kick major butt!
We then bid farewell to Florida for another year, and proceeded northward on I-95 to our overnight sleepover location near Hilton Head, South Carolina. A radio friend of my accomplice, Sparky The Engineer, was doing a live remote at a new sports bar and wing joint in Bluffton, called the Wild Wing Cafe. We stopped in...We didn't see Sparky's friend, but we did enjoy some wings and took in a great band called Lixx. From Atlanta, Lixx did a lot of classic and 80's rock favorites, and has an excellent guitar player named Nikki; this lady can work the fretboard! The Wild Wing Cafe is only a block away from our hotel, so it worked out great.
During the return trip on Saturday - provided we can avoid the heavy snowfall forecasted for south of PA - we hope to hook up with a friend who owns a recording studio in North Carolina. Stay tuned...
