This doesn't happen every day... I'm sitting in my bedroom and doing stuff on the computer at around 11 AM Saturday morning, and I suddenly hear an aircraft surface over Brush Mountain to pass over Altoona. At first I think it's one of the routine hospital helicopters that do the flight path over my house numerous times on any given day. But I don't hear any chopper rotors, so I think it might be an airplane. But whatever it is, it's going slow, and getting louder. Perhaps it's biplanes headed to an airshow, so I get up to take a look. WOAH!!! The Goodyear Blimp is doing a low pass over my house, en route west over Altoona! Apparently it was headed towards Pittsburgh for something (or maybe Cleveland). I grabbed the camera and took a few shots, I don't get many opportunities to photograph the Goodyear Blimp at this close range: Cool...that adds a little extra thrill to my weekend!
