The correct answer to this afternoon's 4:10 PM "Classic Rock Clip" contest was "Take It Easy" by the Eagles. The prize all this week is a WWE John Cena "Live Fast Fight Hard" T-shirt.
Today's 5:15 PM "Lost Classic" from the back of the rack was "I Never Dreamed" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, from their 1977 album Street Survivors. Today is the late Ronnie Van Zant's birthday; he was born on this date in 1949. Of course, Ronnie's life was cut short by the tragic plane crash on October 20, 1977, that also killed Steve and Cassie Gaines.
I am ecstatic, after learning that the new episodes of CBS' doomsday television series, Jericho, start airing on Tuesday night, Feb. 12! If you read my blogs regularly, you might recall me raving about this show in the past. Debuting last television season, Jericho is about a fictitious small Kansas town, Jericho, that tries to come to grips and maintain law, order and civility in the aftermath of a nuclear attack against major American cities carried out by domestic terrorists. The first season was gripping and intriguing drama, touching on themes of domestic terrorism, and how our nation and society might react in the aftermath of such a catastrophe. The program depicted societal breakdowns, greed and every man for himself as supplies and food grow scarce. With each episode, Jericho's leaders found it increasingly difficult to maintain law and order, both within the community and protecting the town from outside forces. The final program of the first season came to a nailbiter finish, as outnumbered Jericho townspeople tried to fend off an attack from a larger town wanting to conquer and claim Jericho's resources and supplies.
CBS tried to pull the plug on the program at the end of the first season, but in a rare turnaround, a large and organized campaign by viewers resulted in CBS agreeing to bring the program back during the middle of this season for a limited run. I checked out a trailer for the upcoming episodes on CBS' website, and it looks like it is going to kick some major butt! The trailer hinted at such possibilities as militaristic martial law and executions, and even the U.S. splitting into new nations. Needless to say, I'll have the VCR set for Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 8 PM! And I'm seriously considering purchasing the entire first season of Jericho on DVD!
