Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the May 13 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”
Thanks to our guests in the studio, Altoona metalheads Choking Faith (www.myspace.com/chokingfaith1), for “putting the laughter back in slaughter” over the show’s two hours! We met the band members and learned their story to date, and heard recorded songs from their latest 5-song CD Thru the Ashes, plus several lucky listeners called in to win copies! The laughs were plentiful, as Choking Faith shared some stage adventures and misadventures with us. We also updated Local Music News, and dug into the local music archives to hear a track from Fatal Maim for a Local Music Flashback! And we debuted a new song from Steel. A hard rocking, crazy show!
Here is this week’s playlist:
HOUR ONE:
LIES, INC. – “Hypnotic”
PIVOT – “River Entrance”
CHOKING FAITH – “Oblivion”
MY TURNING POINT – “In Your Head”
CHOKING FAITH – “Wait!”
WHITE WITCH – “Game That I Play”
STEEL – “Tornado Alley”
HOUR TWO:
4 DAYS DIRTY – “Stone Cold”
CHOKING FAITH – “Porno Tongue”
FATAL MAIM – “For Every Evil” (1990, Local Music Flashback)
CHOKING FAITH – “Train Wreck of Life”
SKELL – “No Solution”
CHOKING FAITH – “Thru the Ashes”
Next Sunday night, our guests in the studio will be the State College-based band Lowjack. We’ll get acquainted with the band members, plus hear tunes from Lowjack’s newly-released self-titled CD. We’ll also hear some songs from other area bands and artists, plus review a local CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” Lowjack visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!
