Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the July 1 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”
We didn't have any in-studio guests again this week, but we nonetheless had a busy show! We aired portions of an interview done in May with local 80's hair band favorites Hair Force One (www.hf1rocks.com). Done and recorded to provide the basis for the group's front cover story in the June issue of Pennsylvania Musician magazine, this interview took on a life of its own as the band members cut loose and lived up to their 80's "Decade of Decadence" persona! Hopefully listeners had as much fun hearing this interview as we had doing it!
We also updated Local Music News, and reviewed The April Skies' new CD, How It All Played Out, in "The Professor's CD Corner." (The review can be viewed in the "Backyard Rocker" section of the Message Board area on Q94's website, www.wbxq.com.) And we debuted new tunes from Phipps & Phriends, Justin Mack, Real Be Easys, The Scraps, Chapter 5 and Signal Lost.
Here is this week’s playlist:
HOUR ONE:
RUSTY GUN REVIVAL – “Smoke”
KYX – “Spinnin’ My Wheels”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Boxing Josh”
KEYSTONE – “Runway Queen”
PHIPPS & PHRIENDS – “Hemphield”
ROADKILL – “Lost in the Woods”
JUSTIN MACK – “Killing November”

THE APRIL SKIES – “Shots”
THE SCRAPS – “Wasted”
JOHN CHARNEY – “American Swine”
CHAPTER 5 – “Compromise”
CHOKING FAITH – “Wait!”

This coming Sunday, we welcome guests back on the program, when Hollidaysburg-based punk rockers The Scraps join us! We'll meet the band members and get their story to date, plus hear tracks from their new CD, Therapy for Retards. The Scraps visit the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!
