Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the July 29 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.7 and WBXQ 94.3. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”
Thanks to our frequent-flyer guest and originator of the Q94 Double-Power salute, Rhyne McCormick (www.rhynemccormick.com). We learned about the latest Rhyne happenings, as well as progress with his new band Last Chance. We played tracks from Rhyne’s CD’s, plus our guest brought his acoustic guitar and played two songs live on the air. We also updated Local Music News, and we debuted new songs from Christine Havrilla and Milkshake Jones.
Here is this week’s playlist:

HANNAH BINGMAN – “The Greater Picture”

Next Sunday night, it’s the return of the “Cover Song Special.” Many local and regional bands do cover songs out of necessity, in order to stay employed on area nightspot stages. But more than a few area bands have come up with interesting and intriguing arrangements on other artists’ material, and we’ll be exploring some of the more creative remakes done by local artists. Hear how area musicians re-do numbers by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lou Reed, the Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Madonna, Tony Orlando & Dawn, Sam & Dave, Abba and more! The “Cover Song Special” edition of the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!
Forthcoming guests and specials include:
AUG. 12 – Jackson Monsour
AUG. 26 – Ron Carnevali (Johnstown Folkfest preview)
SEPT. 2 – Spirit Lost
SEPT. 9 – Tony Mollick Project
