Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the January 13 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3. The show is brought to you by The Altoona Curve (www.altoonacurve.com), “Everybody’s Hometown Team!”
Thanks to our guests this week, State College’s The Wilcox Hotel (www.myspace.com/thewilcoxhotel), for a very intriguing and entertaining two hours! We met the band members and got inside their career and music, plus heard songs from their first CD, The Sacred and the Profane. Several lucky listeners phoned in to win copies of the CD. In addition, the group brought acoustic instruments and performed two songs live on the air, including the first Spanish language performance in the program’s history! We also debuted new songs from Zupe & Nichols and End Of The Sun, updated Local Music News, and reviewed Rob Wallace & the Mess’ debut CD, Infidelity in Hi-Fi, in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be read in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.)
Here is this week’s playlist:
FELIX & THE HURRICANES – “Backyard Rocker Rocks”
THE RUSTLANDERS – “Holdin’ Out”
THE WILCOX HOTEL – “Angels and Devils”
ZUPE & NICHOLS – “A Dash of Dementia”
THE WILCOX HOTEL – “Simon Gonzales”
DAVE DISTEFANO w/GRINNING MOB – “Light the Fire, Get Down”
THE WILCOX HOTEL – “Dashboard Jesus” (performed live on the air)
END OF THE SUN – “What You Need”
HOUR TWO:
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Boxing Josh”
THE WILCOX HOTEL – “Coyote Blues”
ROB WALLACE & THE MESS – “Harvestin’ Time”
THE WILCOX HOTEL – “El Mojado Acuadalado” (performed live on the air)
THE WILCOX HOTEL – “Ties That Bind”
Next Sunday night, if Old Man Winter again doesn’t get in the way, our guest will be Images Of Eden singer Gordon Tittsworth, whose December appearance on the show was postponed due to a winter storm. We’ll learn the latest Images Of Eden happenings, plus hear songs from their latest CD, Sunlight of the Spirit, which listeners will have chances to call in to win. We’ll hear songs from other bands and artists, and review Codorus Cruise Line’s Down That Alley CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Gordon from Images Of Eden visits the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!
Forthcoming guests and specials include:
JAN. 27 – End of the Sun
