The annual Kevin Dare Benefit Concert will be taking place at Crowbar in State College on Tuesday evening, Oct. 11. Kevin was a Penn State pole vaulter who died in early 2002 from head injuries when he fell to the ground while competing in the pole vault at the Big Ten Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships in Minneapolis. Proceeds from the benefit go to the Kevin Dare Foundation, which works to improve safety for track and field events; part of the proceeds also will go to a scholarship fund to be awarded to a Penn State student participating in track and field. Performers at the benefit concert include the bands In, Giants Of Science, Halestorm, Poptart Monkeys, and Amy K. & Love Stomp. Plus acoustic performer Mike Jacober will start the evening. Tickets will be $5 in advance and $7 at the door, and can be obtained from either the participating bands or at Crowbar.
