A change behind the drum kit for Wellsboro modern rockers Backstreet Law. Mike “Choke” Oakley has departed the group due to musical and creative differences; the split is said to be a friendly one. Replacing “Choke” behind the kit is a drummer from the Corning, New York, area, Mike Cavalier.
Fans of Felix & the Hurricanes might want to make a point to see the band within the next two weeks, because Hurricanes public appearances will be rare in December and January. Beginning December 4, the Hurricanes will be embarking on their annual month-long concert tour of the state’s correctional system, playing to literally captive audiences across the state. After that tour winds down at the end of December, the group will be taking the month of January off for vacation.
The Altoona-based band Cucuplex had an interesting weekend. After their singer suddenly quit the group on Friday night, the band was in dire need of a singer for their show Saturday night at Electric Avenue in Houtzdale. After posting an emergency last-minute plea for a singer on Rockpage.net, former Big Bang Theory frontman J. Michaels came to the rescue, and enabled Cucuplex to not only be able to honor their scheduled show, but have a good night as well.
Further upheaval for Dubois heavy rockers Sever, after the announcement that singer Dave Harris has parted ways with the group. According to comments made by drummer Paul Butler on the group’s website, www.2sever.com, , he and guitarist Alvaray Kuhn will continue the group with new members; we’ll continue to update you as more information becomes available.
