This past Saturday night, I enjoyed witnessing a fun jam night at City Limits, hosted by veteran Altoona classic rockers Half Tempted. This show was actually a throwback in time, about 17-18 years, back to the days when musicians would crowd into the old Sebastiano's Hotel (now the Monkey Wharf) to get together onstage and jam. A number of those musicians were present at City Limits this night, as well as a number of the fans from back in the day.
Seeing performers like Joe George, Bob Watters, John Stevens, Jim High, Bill Nusom and others join Half Tempted onstage brought back memories of a time when bands like Rapidfire, Psycho, Thin Ice and Fatal Maim were prominent names on the area music scene. This was a very good night that celebrated local rock heritage; the jams were fun and rocking, and it was cool to see both long time music fans and younger fans experiencing these performers for the first time. Thanks to Ron Dalansky of Half Tempted for organizing this special night - here's hoping for more nights like this soon!

"Weezie" and Steve belt out some voice on Half Tempted's rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama."
"Big Jim" Ricotta of Half Tempted.
Another local music legend, Jim High, helps with backing vocals.
The 'local legend' jam continues with former Rapidfire/Shattered China bassist Joe George on rhythm guitar, former Fatal Maim/current Felix & the Hurricanes drummer Bob Watters behind the kit, and former Thin Ice/current Sidestep/.00Buck frontman John Stevens on vocals.

Towards night's end, three Banditos - Bill Nusom on bass and vocals, Phil Wagner on guitar and Dave Russell on drums - are joined by Joe George.
