The 16th annual "Crazy Fest" Amateur Youth Talent Show will take place on Sunday, April 30th starting at 1 PM at the Greenwood Fire Hall in Altoona. Organized and hosted by Dennie Huber, "Crazy Fest" is an amateur talent show and competition open to youth ages 21 and younger. Youngsters can enter and showcase their talents in front of a supportive audience, to win trophies, awards, plaques and other prizes. "Crazy Fest" is open to any and all talents: singing, playing instruments, amateur bands, dancing, poetry and more. There is no fee to enter "Crazy Fest" as a contestant. For an application to compete, call Dennie Huber at (814) 942-2516. Admission at the door for the general public is $2 per person. Food and refreshments will be provided, with food proceeds benefiting the Greenwood Fire Company. Proceeds from the door will fund the costs of the trophies and awards presented to the winners.
The Northern Cambria-based classic rock band Teepee Woody has reformed after several years out of action. The group now features singer and guitarist Jim Zemlock, bassist and singer Matt Dolges, and drummer and singer Bill Cunningham. The group is currently performing at Cambria County venues.
Changes for the Pottsville-based modern rock band Searching For Gladys. Singer Patrick Burke has announced that he is relocating to Florida, and is starting a new music project, called The Lettuce Pray Project. He will release a solo album under that title. The remaining three members of Searching For Gladys have hooked up with a singer named Damian, and have changed the band's name to Lights Over Ashfield. They are also in the process of recording an album.
A name change for the York-based rock band Texas Jerry; the group has changed their name to A State Of. The group released their new CD, Rhyme & Reason, this past weekend at a show in the York area.
Another band coming out with a new CD is Downingtown-based modern funk-rock band Kiwi, who have just released their third album, called Too Hot for Pepe. Still comprised of singer/bassist Lee Kendrick and singer/guitarist Ed Artz, Kiwi is gearing up to tour throughout the state in support of the new album this spring and summer.
