In Local Music News... Felix & the Hurricanes are returning to the Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania's International Blues Challenge. The Hurricanes will be heading to Pittsburgh on April 22 to play at the Blues Challenge qualifier event at Maxie's Place. The group is looking for any local fans who want to go over and cheer them on; any interested fans can contact the Hurricanes at their shows, or log onto the website www.felixandthehurricanes.com for more information. One of the state's most popular party bands is back onstage after a 16 month layoff. Juiced has recently returned to action as a four-piece, featuring singer Russ Weikel, guitarist Norm Marks, bassist Peggy Hood and drummer Darrell Hetrick. The group's former keyboard player, Doug Buch, left the group to pursue a different career direction away from music. Juiced has posted some original songs on their new website on Myspace.com; the four tunes were recorded in Doug Buch's home studio during the group's hiatus in the past year. A transformation for the band formerly known as Love Stomp. After the group parted ways with singer Amy K in March, guitarist Willy G. has united with some former members of the band RU21 to form the group Stomp'd. Harrisburg's The April Skies are nearly done recording their new CD. The new disc should feature at least 7 or 8 new songs. The group is planning to play a number of shows during May to promote the disc, as well as a number of outdoor shows and festivals over the summer.
