In Local Music News.
We reported earlier that the 11th annual Millennium Music Conference would be returning to the winter months. It also will be taking place at a new location. The Conference is now slated for February 15-18, 2007 at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center in Camp Hill, across the Susquehanna River from downtown Harrisburg. The deadline for bands or artists hoping to showcase at next year's Conference is December 1. For more information, visit the conference website, www.musicconference.net.
More information about the 4th annual Rock The House benefit concert is now available. The benefit, with proceeds going to the IMAC Foundation, will take place next Saturday, September 16 beginning at 3 PM at Greenhouse Park near Johnstown, and will feature three stages of entertainment. The Clarks will again headline this year's event; other performers will include Good Brother Earl, Hope On A Rope, Pivot, Buddy Dee & the Hitmen, Dubmissive, Red Collar Company and Pelt, along with acoustic entertainers Denise Baldwin; Lori, B.J. & Glenn; Clete & Jill; Down Street Deuce and House of Commons. Tickets are $30 and will be available at the gate.
Due to various other life priorities, singer Kara Kise is stepping down as frontlady for the Lewistown-based band Unit 509. For the interim, Kara's husband, Bob Kise, will be singing all lead vocals for the group.
Lastly, an update on Pittsburgh's Tony Mollick. Back in mid-June, Tony suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle crash; breaking both shoulders, his right humorus, clavicle and 9 ribs, as well as collapsing his right lung. After spending eleven days in Pittsburgh's Presbyterian Hospital, Tony has been on the recovery trail. His right arm has radial nerve palsy, and is temporarily half-paralyzed; Tony faces half a year before he'll regain full use of that arm. Tony said he is determined to recover 100% so he can resume performing music again.
