In Local Music News…
The future of Lewistown-based rock band Wiskerbisket is in the air. Singer Doug Snook has announced that he is stepping away from the group to devote more time to family and his personal life. The group is currently seeking a new singer, but may reform under a new name if a new singer isn’t found by the time Wiskerbisket plays their last currently-scheduled show later this month. Any interested singers are invited to contact the group via their website, www.wiskerbisket.com.
Former Nevermoure/Vs. the Earth drummer Shawn Hocherl has hooked up with a new band. Shawn has joined four other Baltimore area musicians to form a new group called The Name. The Name starts playing in the general Baltimore area next month, and Shawn has expressed hope about bringing the group to the Altoona area to perform sometime soon.
The Harrisburg-based rock band Herbie has found their new member, guitarist and singer Andy Mowatt. Andy replaces George Griffo, who left the group late last year.
Two former members of Sweet Pea Felty have formed a unique new band project. Drummer Kevin Thomas and singer/keyboardist Chris Novak have formed Barnfunk. The group performs original songs and classic rock covers, and just played their first show this past Thursday night in the Harrisburg area.
And a date has been announced for the third annual Jeff Wallack Memorial Benefit Concert. This year’s show will take place on Saturday, March 31st at Aldo’s in Altoona. The show, held in memory of popular local guitarist Jeff Wallack, will feature performances from a few bands, including The Flame Sky, along with a jam session. More details about the show will be announced soon.
