First, some more details regarding the special benefit event happening next weekend at Raystown to help out Scott Eckberg. Scott, who makes guitars, recently lost both his house and guitar shop to a fire; he was uninsured. A benefit bonfire and campout party to raise money for Scott will take place next Saturday and Sunday at Seven Points Amphitheater at Lake Raystown. There will be overnight camping, along with music from The Flame Sky, Blackseed and Sweetmeat. Camping reservations have to be made at Seven Points by calling 1-877-444-6777. Campers and their guests must RSVP to the email address hoedown.pa@gmail.com. Donations of money and practical living items for Scott will be accepted during the event.
The date for this year's 6th annual PA Singer Songwriter Festival has been announced. This year's event will take place on Saturday, August 18, at Brookpark Farm near Lewisburg, the same site as last year's event. Performers confirmed to take part in this year's Festival include past favorites from the event such as Hannah Bingman and New York's Denise Barbarita; as well as John Micek and Milkshake Jones from Harrisburg, Carla Ulbrich, Alicia Keister, Jesse Rubin, John Sonntag and Mycenea Worley. In band personnel moves, former "Backyard Rocker" guest, composer and former Ask A Stranger guitarist Dave Buzard has joined the blues rock group Kee Kee Anderson. The group also features Altoona's Mark Panek on drums. Kee Kee Anderson will be playing a free show, opening for a fireworks display next Saturday night at Gumtown Park in New Bethlehem.
Lies, Inc. has announced that they are fully back in action. Not only is drummer Ron Brode recovered from his back surgery from earlier this year, but singer J.D. Hicks has returned to the fold after leaving the group last winter. Lies, Inc, will make their official return to live stage action July 28 at Aldo's.
