A number of benefit concerts and events involving live music to pass along…
Flood City Brass will provide the musical entertainment next Saturday evening at the Oriental Ballroom in Gallitzin, at “A Real Old Fashioned Dance,” being presented by the Gallitzin High School Alumni Association. The dance is a fundraiser for the Gallitzin Alumni Scholarship Fund, and runs from 8 to 11 PM. Donation at the door is $10.
On Sunday evening, November 18, an all-ages benefit show will be taking place at the White Lady Tavern, on Route 36 at the top of the Buckhorn. The memorial benefit will help out the family of Tiahna Myers, who recently passed away from SIDS. The bands Hello Vixen and Slacker Theory will perform. The show will start at 7 PM, and the donation at the door is $7.
Pennsylvania Musician Magazine, City Limits and Q94 will be presenting the fifth annual Toys For Tots benefit on Saturday evening, November 24 at City Limits in Altoona. The show will start at 8:30 PM, and will feature the bands Spirit Lost, Felix & the Hurricanes, Tie Down, Slacker Theory and Nyne. The donation at the door will be either $10 or a new, unopened toy of equal or greater value. Proceeds help out the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program, helping to brighten the holiday season for needy area families.
And Zupe will provide the music at the annual Central PA Humane Society's Satan’s Revenge ChiliFest. The event, where various area restaurants, bars and taverns cook up their best chili recipes for folks to enjoy, will happen on Sunday, November 25 from 5 to 8 PM at the Ramada in Altoona. The admission price is $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
