It’s Blair County Arts Festival time again…Dave & Paula, Bedlam, Ed McDade, Jerry Haines, Jay Smar and the Summit City Saints are among some of the musical entertainers performing at the annual Blair County Arts Festival, happening next Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, at Penn State Altoona.
Local classic rockers Kyx will entertain at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer "Kick-Off" Party next Friday night, May 16 at The Casino at Lakemont.
The Altoona-based rock band Without Zerb has added a second guitarist, as Jamie Smith has joined on with the group. Jamie also plays guitar and sings with his own original music project Crow In The Snow, and plays bass with local classic rockers Beyond Reason.
Williamsburg-based heavy metal quintet Archetype has changed their name to Assault Method. The name change was made due to potential legal difficulties with using the Archetype name. The group’s first performance as Assault Method will be at the Benefit for Baby Wise concert next Saturday at the Hollidaysburg Sportsmen’s Club.
Eastern Pennsylvania blues trio 61 South, the band formed from the ashes of the Victory In Heaven Band, is nearing completion of their debut CD. The group recently finished recording and mixing the CD at Right Coast Recording in Columbia, PA, and has sent the album to legendary Philadelphia recording engineer Mike Tarsia of Sigma Sound Studios to add his finishing touches. The CD is then expected to be released in late June.
