Hello,
I haven't blogged in a long time...usually I'd chime in with sometime stupid. Unfortunately I cannot this this time.
On Sunday (5/28/06) Q 94 lost a very loyal listener to a senseless act. Dale Zunich of Altoona was murdered on a rural road in Huntingdon county. Seriously.
Why? We have no idea. All of us at the radio station have been at a loss for an explanation.
Dale was part of the Q94 family and will be missed. Like all of us, he had faults but was a good guy. He didn't deserve his fate, neither did the poor Ebensburg woman. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Velda Malloy, her family & friends and to everyone who knew Dale.
I read violent crimes as news stories often, too often. In the media you are supposed to distance yourself from the story...but when it's someone you know it's difficult.
On Thursday morning we will say goodbye to Dale and play an AC/DC song for him. I figure Q94 owes him at least that much.
Rest in peace Dale.
Your friend, Adam

It's been two days since I heard the news, and I'm still in a daze.
Even though I'm the newest member of the Q-94 family...(I've been here about a year and a half)...Dale was one of the first people I met. He had a sense of humor....and despite what was happening in his life...could somehow find humor in that too.
I've been in radio for nearly 25 years...and no matter where I've worked...my co-workers and listeners become an extended part of your family. When you lose someone to a senseless act, it definitely hits home.
Rest in Peace Dale....you'll be missed.
Rose

Looking at this blog yesterday for the first time, it really flipped me out. Never could I imagine Adam and Rose being so serious. It does prove that Q94 does really care about their listeners. Hopefully the thing that done this terrible deed gets his just reward. Proves to me to live one day at a time and live it fully. Rest in peace Dale. We will never forget.

I echo the sentiments that Adam and Rose expressed above.
In radio, when you're constantly in touch with the public, you get to know many of your listeners through constant interaction with them, as they phone in requests or show up for remotes and other events the station is involved with. Over time, those listeners do become a part of your extended family. Dale Zunich was one of those who became a regular part of our world here at Q94.
Dale had his ups and downs, like we all do. He had his demons, and sometimes wandered astray and got himself into predicaments. Deep down, though, he had a good heart, could laugh at himself and what curve balls life threw at him, and he was willing to help out in a pinch. He was always friendly and cordial towards us, and over the years became a part of our lives here at Q94.
As Richard posted above, the tragic and shocking loss of Dale drives home the point of living each day to its fullest, and appreciating the people around you. Never take anything for granted in this life, because in any given moment, it can change or be gone.
Rest in peace, Dale. Thanks for being you, and for being a part of our lives. We will never forget.

Q94 is by far the best radio station I've ever heard of and will always be listening at work, home or where ever I'am.Thanks for caring Q94.

I was crushed when I heard about the double murder that included a friend. I met Dale the day we started playing classic rock (all 300 songs) back in 90' Over the years Dale must have called me in the afternoon every freakin day! But he was a good guy and loved us, and the station, but they guy had a heart of gold. Rock on wherever you are Bro!!
