Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the June 22 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBXQ 94.3.
Thanks to our in-studio guests this week, popular regional rock force Rise Phoenix Rise, who made time to stop in and be guests on the “Backyard Rocker” before performing live at Pellegrine’s later in the evening. We met the band members, learned their story, and heard songs from their CD The Land of Oohs and Aahs; plus several lucky listeners called in to win copies! We also debuted new songs from Blue Number Nine and Not Alone, updated Local Music News, and reviewed Kinsey’s CD Opposites Attack EP in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” (The review can be read in the “Backyard Rocker” section of the message board area on Q94’s website, www.wbxq.com.)
Here is this week’s playlist:
HOUR ONE:
SLACKER THEORY – “Shake”
MY TURNING POINT – “In Your Head”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Walk Away”
VS. THE EARTH – “Lightswitch”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Pieces”
THE FLAME SKY – Alright”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Boxing Josh”
BLUE NUMBER NINE – “Sleepwalker”
HOUR TWO:
LIES, INC. – “Hypnotic”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “Dante Maria”
KINSEY – “The Best Part”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “My Song”
RISE PHOENIX RISE – “She Likes Girls”
NOT ALONE – “Voices”
Next Sunday night, our guests were to be Armstrong County classic/southern rockers Rockabilly Junction. But as we reported on Local Music News, Rockabilly Junction announced that they were disbanding, and have cancelled their “Backyard Rocker” appearance. A replacement guest could be on the program, or we’ll simply use the opportunity to get caught up on all the new local and regional CD’s that have arrived at “Backyard Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. We will hear tunes from area bands and artists, and review a new local/regional CD or two in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” One thing’s for sure, there will be lots of local and regional music on the “Backyard Rocker,” next Sunday night!
Forthcoming guests and specials include:
JULY 20 – Fast Forward Special
JULY 27 – 61 South
AUG. 3 – Nitekast
AUG. 10 – Don Hughes (tentative)
AUG. 24 – Ron Carnevali (Johnstown Folkfest preview)
SEPT. 7 – Larry Nath
The "Backyard Rocker" is happy to announce its continued partnership with "The Underground TV," the local/regional music television show airing on WATM ABC 23 Friday mornings at 1:30 AM and on WWPC Fox 8 Sunday mornings at 1:30 AM. Check out "The Underground" as it features different unsigned local and regional bands every week; and watch for "Backyard Rocker" updates on the show each week as well!
