The 18th annual End Of Summer Jam benefit concert for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh will take place on Sunday, August 24, from 12 noon to 10 PM, at Kook's Kamp near Chest Springs. Show happens rain or shine.
The bands performing this year (in order):
The Red Arrow
Moxie
Sunset Strip
Driving Sideways
Felix & the Hurricanes
Radiofuel
Nitekast
Half Tempted
Heavy Radio will play acoustic mini-sets between bands. Other acoustic performers may be added.
The donation at the gate is $10 per person, with kids under 12 admitted free. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase, and people will be allowed to bring coolers and beer (unlike last year) – cans please, no glass. Must be 21 or older to consume alcohol, and legal ID is required to drink. Free parking. Anybody under 21 must be accompanied by an adult.
Directions to get to Kook’s Kamp:
From Altoona: Take Route 36 north to Chest Springs, and turn left off of 36 at the fork/sharp curve (36 curves to the right). This will put you on Columbia Street. After this, turn left onto the first road you come to, Jefferson Street. Proceed about 2 miles, and Kook’s Kamp will be on your left – just watch for the signs.
From Cresson, Gallitzin and points west: Take Route 53 north past Gallitzin towards Ashville. About a mile past Gallitzin, after you cross over the railroad track, turn left onto the next road, Syberton Road. Proceed about a half mile, and turn right onto the first road you come to, Lincoln Road (it’s not marked; it’s the first road). Proceed on Lincoln Road for about 4 miles, and Kook’s Kamp will be on your right – just watch for the signs.
